E.C. Glass High School

EC Glass High School is one of two public high schools in Lynchburg, Virginia. Originally constructed in 1953, the 300,000sf high school had never been renovated. Its 1,600 students were regularly dismissed early because the building was not air conditioned. This complete renovation project, which included full air conditioning, was completed in six phases over 36 months. Construction took place while the building was fully occupied and functional. In addition to the extensive renovations, the project included 60,000sf of new construction that included a new main gym with locker rooms, science classrooms and labs. The Danville, Virginia office of Dewberry designed the project.
