STRINGFELLOW ROAD
PARK & RIDE EXPANSION

This project expanded an existing VDOT-owned Park and Ride facility by adding 322 parking spaces and three bus bays along with the construction of a 1,345sf transit facility. Site improvement on the 8+ acres included clearing and grading, dynamic compaction and lime stabilization. The facility’s LEED design standards required various stormwater management improvements, including pervious parking spaces and bio-retention ponds. The transit building provides enclosed space for the sale of transit passes and the leasing of secured on-site bike storage. It is a simple steel structure, with curtain wall facades. The majority of the building’s power is provided by roof mounted solar panels, requiring power from the grid only when cooling is required.

RECOGNITION’S & AWARDS

  • The facility received an “Award of Merit” from the Northern Virginia Chapter of NAIOP, the Commercial Real Estate Association.
  • Branch was recognized with an “Award of Excellence” by Fairfax County’s Department of Public Works and Environmental Services for our outstanding performance on the project.
